  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder

  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and spread melted butter in a 9×13 baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together milk, vanilla extract, and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon to the wet mixture. Stir gently until just combined.
  4. Spoon the batter over the melted butter without mixing. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly on top.
  5. Carefully pour hot water over the batter and brown sugar; do not stir.
  6. Bake for about 30-35 minutes until golden brown and mostly set.
  7. Immediately sprinkle with a mixture of topping sugar and cinnamon upon removing from the oven.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
