Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 egg (additional)
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (additional)
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt (additional)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In one bowl, beat together peanut butter, softened butter, and brown sugar until fluffy. Mix in one egg and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; blend into the wet mixture until just combined.
  2. For the brownie dough, whisk melted butter and white sugar in a separate bowl. Stir in cocoa powder, then mix in an egg and vanilla. Fold in additional flour, baking powder, salt, and chocolate chips until no dry streaks remain.
  3. Chill both doughs in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop portions of each dough side by side on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Swirl together using a toothpick.
  5. Bake for 9–11 minutes until tops are lightly crackly; centers should remain soft. Cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
