- 6 medium Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup light corn syrup
- ½ cup water
- ¼ tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pink and blue food coloring gel (or your choice)
- Optional: cotton candy-flavored extract, edible glitter or sprinkles
Instructions
- Scrub and dry the apples thoroughly. Insert wooden sticks into each apple and place them on parchment paper.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and cream of tartar. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
- Increase heat to high and boil without stirring until reaching 300°F (150°C). Remove from heat; stir in vanilla extract and optional flavoring.
- Divide candy into two containers; add food colorings to create swirls.
- Dip each apple into both colors, swirling for a marbled effect, then place on parchment paper to set.
- While still soft, sprinkle with glitter or sprinkles if desired. Allow to cool completely.
